PM addresses the launch of 'Jal-Jan Abhiyaan' through video messages
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Brahma Kumaris 'Jal Jan Abhiyan' through a video message today.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister expressed his happiness at getting the opportunity to be a part of the inauguration of the Brahma Kumaris' 'Jal Jan Abhiyan' and said that it is always a special experience to learn from them. The Prime Minister said, "The blessing I received from the late Rajyogini Dadi Janki ji is my greatest asset." He recalled when he came to Abu Road in 2007 to pay homage to Dadi Prakash Mani ji after her demise.The Prime Minister mentioned the enthusiastic invitations he has received from the Brahma Kumaris over the years and said that they always try to remain present among them as a member of this spiritual family. He recalled the 'Power of the Future program in Ahmedabad in 2011, the 75th-anniversary program of the establishment of this organization, the Sangam Tirthdham in 2013, the 80th establishment day program of the Brahma Kumaris organization in 2017, and the Amrit Mahotsav program and thanked them for their love and affection.
The Prime Minister emphasized his special relationship with the Brahma Kumaris and said that rising above oneself and dedicating everything to society is a form of sadhana for all.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Jal Jeevan Mission is being launched at a time when the entire world is viewing water scarcity as a future crisis. He stated that the 21st-century world has started feeling the seriousness of limited water resources on the planet and that water security is a big question for India due to its large population. The Prime Minister said, "In the era of Amrit, India is viewing water as a future.
If there is water, there will be tomorrow," and underlined that united efforts need to be initiated from today itself in this regard. He expressed satisfaction in transforming water conservation in the country into a people's movement and stated that the Jal-Jeevan Abhiyan by Brahma Kumaris will provide new energy to this endeavor of public participation. He said that the reach of water conservation campaigns will also increase, resulting in an increase in its impact.
The Prime Minister mentioned the sages and seers of India who thousands of years ago established a system of restraint, balance, and sensitivity towards nature, the environment, and water. He recalled the centuries-old saying to not destroy water but to protect it.
He underlined that this sentiment has been an integral part of India's spirituality and religion for thousands of years. The Prime Minister said, "Water conservation is at the center of our society's culture and our social thinking, which is why we consider water as a deity and rivers as mothers." He emphasized that when society develops such an emotional connection with nature, sustainable development becomes a natural way of life.
He reiterated the need to awaken awareness of the past and search for solutions to future challenges. The Prime Minister called for instilling confidence in the values of water conservation among the people of the country and the need to eliminate every obstacle that causes water pollution. He highlighted the role of spiritual institutions in India, such as the Brahma Kumaris, in the direction of water conservation.
The Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the past decades when a negative thought process had developed and subjects like water conservation and environment were considered difficult. The Prime Minister highlighted the changes that have taken place in both mentality and situation over the past 8-9 years.
Giving the example of the Namami Gange campaign, the Prime Minister stated that not only the Ganga, but all its tributaries are also becoming clean. Meanwhile, campaigns such as natural farming are also starting along the banks of the Ganga. The Prime Minister said, "The Namami Gange campaign has emerged as a model for various states of the country
Referring to the "Catch the Rain" campaign, the Prime Minister said that falling groundwater levels are also a major challenge for the country. He said that through the Atal Bhujal Yojana, water conservation is also being promoted in thousands of village panchayats across the country. The Prime Minister also mentioned the campaign to create 75 Amrit Sarovars in every district of the country, saying that this is a big step towards water conservation.
Highlighting the contribution of women in water conservation, the Prime Minister said that women in villages are leading important schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission through water committees. He emphasized that Brahma Kumaris sisters can also play a similar role at the global level. He also stressed the need to address environmental issues along with water conservation.
The Prime Minister stated that our country is promoting techniques like drip irrigation for balanced use of water in agriculture and urged the Brahma Kumaris to inspire farmers to adopt these practices. He also highlighted that the entire world is observing International Millet Year, and urged everyone to include millets in their diet. He underlined that Bajra and Jowar have been a part of India's agricultural and food habits for centuries and that Bajra is rich in nutrients and requires less water during cultivation.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Jal-Jeevan Abhiyan will succeed through a collective effort and will help in building a better India with a better future.
